The EU €3 parcel duty: charged per product type, not per parcel
Since 1 July 2026, parcels from outside the EU worth €150 or less pay a flat €3 customs duty for each product type in the parcel. It runs until 1 July 2028.
What counts as a product type
Each different kind of product is a separate line on the customs declaration. Three identical T-shirts are one line. A T-shirt, a phone case and a lamp are three lines.
Example
| Basket | Lines | €3 duty |
|---|---|---|
| Phone case, socks, lamp | 3 | €9 |
| 3 identical phone cases | 1 | €3 |
From 1 November 2026 the €2 handling fee is added per line as well, and VAT is charged on top.
What it does not cover
Orders over €150 pay normal customs duty instead, at the rate for each product. See the €150 limit. Gifts between private people follow separate rules.
